The Bat Signal shone for Adam West one final time on Thursday night.
The iconic symbol was projected onto Los Angeles City Hall in honor of the actor, who died last Friday at 88.
Fans wearing Batman-themed costumes cheered as the signal appeared:
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and actor Burt Ward, who played West’s sidekick Robin in the 1960s TV series, both gave moving speeches.
“Adam West taught us that each one of us had a heart of gold and that we could have a fun time doing it too,” said Garcetti. “There will never be a Batman like Adam West and there will never be another Adam West.”
Ward said West was at the event “spiritually,” adding that his friend would be telling everyone to “be incredibly happy and joyous.”
“He would tell you that we’re all on this planet for such a very short period of time, to make the most of every day you’re here, to be with your family, be with your friends, be kind to people,” Ward added.
